Why certain parts of your body do not open easily in yoga practice.

Yoga is such a joyful experience when your body flows freely in breath, bandha and movement.

Sometimes, however, you can experience unexpected resistance, discomfort, weakness or even pain during your practice.

Your hips won't open. Your arms lose power.  Your shoulder blades stiffen. Your knees go weak. You can even feel cold, heavy or tired.

What is going on? Why do these things happen and more importantly, what can you do to work through these issues?

Sometimes the answer lies in better body alignment and adjusted asana, but sometimes the resistance or discomfort persists. These are the issues that we will address in this workshop.

This workshop examines a range of 20 resistances, discomforts and weaknesses experienced during yoga practice, explaining the cause and origin of each one and revealing the way forward through them.

Issues include:

  • Weak knees (front and back)

  • Tight hamstrings

  • Tight adductors

  • Closed hips

  • Pain in the back at L5/S1

  • Tight mid-back

  • Tightness between the shoulder blades

  • Tight shoulders

  • Pain and weakness in the upper arm

  • Swelling or tightness in the neck

This workshop is suitable for both yoga practicioners and professionals and massage practitioners and professionals

This workshop is also great for yoga teachers who have noticed that their students are experiencing these issues. The information in this workshop will enable you to help and understand your students better.

Also bodyworkers as massage therapists, physiotherapists and of course Thai Yoga massage therapists will draw useful insights from this workshop. It is a great workshop for all massage practitioners who have noticed that their massage clients are carrying these issues in their body.

The workshop will be taught in English with on-site translation into German and Spanish.

 

Please note: there is no asana practice in this workshop. This workshop is about understanding the deeper reasons why asana isn't working.

About the Instructor:


Robert Henderson has been teaching and practicing Thai massage for fifteen years. He specialises in energy work, releasing the effects of emotional hurt from the physical body and re-aligning the soul-body with its true purpose. His book 'Emotion and Healing in the Energy Body' is a detailed examination of the link between subtle energy and the condition of the physical body. He has worked exclusively with the yoga community for ten years, helping practitioners move through blocks and resistances in order to deepen their practice. He is an instructor-level member of Thai Healing Alliance International (THAI). Based in Vienna, Robert teaches and gives treatments throughout Europe.
